Road Trip - Day 6 - San Antonio

So today was our first day in San Antonio. We're spending almost a week here because Eric has it in his head that he wants to live here. We'll see about that..... :) We're going to try to get a feel for the area and do some house hunting.

Isabella did not want to start the day! It seriously hurt my heart to wake up the poor, overtired baby....

So we got her Mexican bread from the best bakery in San Antonio!
She did not want to have her picture taken....
Even less so once I took her "fafa"

Got the "fafa" back.... still didn't want pictures...

Walking through the Alamo....

...in 106 degrees and 84% humidity! It was sufficating!!

What else would you do with a cannon at a historical site...

hmm... not sure what they're doing... but I do know it was HOT out!

awww my little girl's all grown up and playing with cannons....

The Alamo! From the front... Very hard to get a good picture with ten hundren other people trying to get the same picture.

Playing with Grandma's cane... in the HEAT!

Poor kid was so tired she slept through the entire riverwalk.... where there are only stairs.... lots of stairs! That we had to pick up her stroller and carry her. She slept through the whole walk and dinner!

Texas likes their flags!

Yup... there are huge fish in the river!

The fact that my MIL got us in the picture was good enough for me! Ignore the blurry... :)

John and Gloria on the Riverwalk

Totally don't remember what building this is but it looks really pretty lit up at night!

There were tons of these lit up carriages taking people around the Alamo

They look like Cinderella's pumpkin!

I love the Alamo at night

Road Trip - Day 5!

So I have two new best friends....

The drive-thru liquor store! They have everything! Even margaritas! Though we couldn't figure out what you're supposed to do with them once you get them... you can't drive with open alcohol.... but you can't drink it.... hmm.... EVERYThING is a drive-thru in Del Rio!
And styrofoam cups! I know it sounds silly but these things mean business! Not even kidding! I left my diet coke in the car for over an hour in 106 degree heat and there was still ice!!! And no mess from condensation. Fabulous, I tell you!

Putting new flowers on her grandmother's grave.

Pretty!

Cheese!

Road Trip - Day 4 - Family

So we planned this trip a while back because we thought it would be fun to bring Eric's parents back to their hometown to visit family. And it was pretty awesome to see John with his little sister! They both talk non-stop! <--- unfortunately for me, most of it was in Spanish so I only caught every few words...

Our motel did not have WiFi so we ended up at a donut shop....

...where Isabella ate every last sprinkle off of her donut.... and then left the rest!

Del Rio has the most colorful cemetaries I have ever seen! Bright flowers everywhere! Makes me wish I had brought along a 35mm instead of my crappy point and shoot...

My MILs oldest sister who died of pnemonia.

My MILs grandmother? I think? Eric isn't in the room so I can't ask.... But when she was a little girl in the 1800s there were still Indian attacks on the town! Crazy!

Right next to the cemetary

My Father in law's elem. school

The church where my inlaws got married... 2 days after my MIL turned 18. It was hilarious to be driving around this little town and hearing how they met and seeing all the places in their stories.

The church that the nuns from the Catholic school took the students from my MILs school.

MILs school

The creek where my inlaws used to swim as kids. They call it the Pig Pen :)

Isabella getting ready to jump in... in her new 'swim swim'!

She was SO excited to be able to walk around the water all by herself! Though she did face plant a couple of times..... not that she minded....

Grandma watched Isabella swim from the same spot where her mom used to watch her and her sisters.

All done swimming!

Dinner with John's sister Chata and her husband Raul. With Izzy sitting so ladylike.... Cracked me up! We went to this Mexican resturant and Chata and Raul ordered a plate of chicken nuggets! That's it... just nuggets....
